2020 WRAPPED

Updated: Jan 23, 2021

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been quite interesting. For most, this year was one giant headache, and it hasn’t been a complete walk in the park for us either. It has tested us mentally and physically, but overall it has been an amazing year for Ash Events. Our couples, our team, and our amazing vendor friends have inspired and encouraged us this year, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Please know we love all of our weddings and client's so much. We took a poll of our staff as the year comes to an end, we want to commemorate our busiest and most rewarding year yet by counting down our choices for our top ten weddings of 2020.

10

Taking tenth place in our countdown is Anna and John’s wedding at Prince George Episcopal Church and a private clubhouse in Georgetown, SC. Anna’s timeless look combined with the romantic and intimate vibes at their reception venue made for a beautiful day! At the last minute they had to alter all of their plans due to Covid, they didn't let that stop them from having the best day ever. Two weeks before their wedding day, they got the news that their venue (which included catering, bar, rentals, & reception location) would not be opening in time. At that point their band also backed out due to Covid. Many people would have crumbled under this pressure, but Anna & John really put their faith in us to bring it all to life in such a short time. A huge thank you to all of the vendors who jumped in last minute to save the day!

The ninth wedding in our countdown in Jessica and Joe’s Pine Lakes wedding. Their original plan was to have their ceremony at a church and their reception at Top Golf, but due to COVID-19 regulations, they had to move to Pine Lakes, and it was just as , if not more dreamy! Their Fourth of July wedding was modern, colorful, and playful. Our favorite detail from this day was Jessica’s beautiful bouquet from Royal Decor. Jessica is also a wedding planner , so having a client that understands the industry was wonderful. It also came in handy when it came to the design portion of the day. Jessica had already worked so many weddings in the industry that she knew exactly what she wanted for their day.

The beautiful wedding of Shelley and Patrick took eighth place in the countdown. Their ceremony was set in the beautiful backyard of The Heritage Club. The lights dangling in the 300-year-old oaks added such elegance to their big day. It was such a pleasure to help this incredible couple have their dream wedding! We loved working with Shelley so much throughout the process. As a fellow wedding vendor, we knew she would come with a top notch vendor team! Shelley also styled my hair for my wedding in 2017. So getting to work with her again was a real treat. Shelley added great personal touches to her big day, but we really loved that her dad (another local vendor) performed the ceremony to marry the couple.

Marla and Spencer’s Wildberry Farm wedding takes seventh place on our countdown for this year. Their slate blue color scheme and delicate details made for a magical day. And Marla’s dress was absolutely dreamy. We loved having the opportunity to be a part of their big day! Marla is another member of the Wedding Industry. She works with one of our favorite photographers which means she had a great eye for the detail. This was also another one of our covid couples that put faith in our hands when they faced the ultimate decision of postponing, cancelling, or eloping. They were originally set to get married in April, right as quarentine went into effect. We pushed back a few months, which happened to be the only remaining availability for the year for the Venue, It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately being able to celebrate with their loved ones was worth the wait.

Our wonderful couple Hanna and Chase hold the 6th spot. This beautiful couple orginally fell in love with Litchfield Country Club. When Covid restrictions forced them to either downsize or move their event they decided to move to their original venues larger sister venue , Pawleys Plantation. Here we decorated a pampas grass fairytale. The bridal party was full of energy and ready to get on the dance floor! Our TikTok followers were kinda obsessed with Hanna to say the least! We can say this wedding was so fun for us and we were blessed to be apart of this couples love story! Chase actually came to us January 2019, to help pull off his proposal to Hanna, you can see that story here!

Dustin and Miriam’s wedding was at Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Everything went so effortlessly. From the beautiful ceremony and the sweetest vows to the most gorgeous reception! Such an easy going day with the best people! Also, cannot forget the sweetest pup to top off the whole day. We loved working with such open minded and down to earth people. Miriam & Dustin made the call pretty early to downsize their wedding. They had family coming in all the way from Egypt , so they knew even if covid restrictions had been lifted, most of those people would not be able to make the trip. They lowered their guest count from 200 to 50. It wasn't an easy decision but knowing their loved ones were safe, while they got to make this promise to each other , outweighed the other options. We truly loved getting a chance to meet such a sweet couple!

Amanda and Ben’s Pretty Place Chapel ceremony was one of the prettiest things we have ever seen! Tiffany McClure Photography’s skills were put to the test with the foggy weather, but she absolutely rocked it. We loved being able to travel up to Greenville and be a part of this beautiful and sentimental ceremony! Amanda & Ben had already decided on an intimate weekday wedding to celebrate their love! Which made Covid percautions a breeze fore them. We do wish we would have gotten to see the beautiful views from Pretty Place, but the fog created such a unique look! These two were such a joy to be around!

Taking the third place spot in our countdown is Lindsay and Anthony’s Boone Hall wedding in Charleston, SC. Lindsay’s boho vision was one we were very excited to tackle. We loved collaborating with Willow Event Designs and Jana from Magnolia Photography to bring her boho dream to life! Lindsay was one of our favorite clients to work with because she really trusted what we had to say. She wasn't afraid to let us do the job we had been hired to do. If I brought an idea to her, she had no problems telling us what she loved or disliked about it , which really made getting down to what she wanted a breeze! We really love that she encorporated a food truck and mobile bar for her reception! It was something different that the typical wedding dinner, and all of her guests (and vendors) really enjoyed the switch up! Our first experience with Boone Hall was amazing. This was such a fun weekend, and we are so grateful that we could be a part of Lindsay and Anthony’s day.

Lisa and Steve’s intimate beach house wedding was perfection. Their original plan was to have a 125 person wedding at a luxury hotel in Myrtle Beach, but COVID regulations and concern for their guests’ health led them to cut their guest count to 17. By doing so that opened up their budget to being able to get that pinterest perfect wedding. We were able to upgrade, chairs, napkins and the rest of the place settings. I typically do not enjoy doing beach house weddings but there was something so special about these two. From the begining Lisa & Steve fully trusted me with every aspect of their day. They let me build an A+ vendor team to show of their love story. Lisa & Steve incorporated many pieces of their love story into their big day. Their first date consisted of a very serious game of Jenga, which they then used Jenga pieces for Escort Cards at each seat. They used South Carolina post cards as their Save the Dates & even found a matching stamp to send with it. They used their college mascot as a cake topper as well. TTo top it all off, they had the most beautiful sunset, as the backdrop for their first dance, which you can see here. These were two of the sweetest humans, and it was very hard to let them go! Nevertheless, Lisa and Steve had a beautiful day surrounded by their closest friends and family members.

Finally! We polled our staff, and it was pretty unanimous all the way around. Our favorite wedding this year was Jacquelyn and Jordan’s Litchfield Plantation wedding. This venue. This couple. This vendor team. Everything about this wedding was perfect, and we are still so happy that we got to be a part of their day. Jacquelyn was one of the very first people to book me when I started my business. It meant so much to me to have her support so early on. I was able to spend almost a year and a half planning with them & really appreciated that they trusted me from the begining. Together we built an immaculate vendor team, which instantly set us up for success. As we got closer to time, Jacquelyn trusted me to completely invert what she had invisioned for her big day. We made some drastic changes that I really think set her apart! We love a chance to incorporate modern elements , especailly at historical locations. When we arrived to the venue , we were given a stack of envelopes which consisted of a handwritten note to EACH vendor. Including, for the first time EVER a handwritten note for me from the Bride AND Groom. On top of being the sweetest people we have ever met, they are also a TikTok fan favorite, racking up over 6,000,000 views & 732,000 likes on the video sharing platform. Overall, we loved planning, designing, and just having the opportunity to be involved in this amazing couple’s love story!
